In the TV Server it finds my DVB-T device but in the list of countries Ireland isn't there. I've tried scanning UK - All Regions (for geographical not political reasons!) and Europe - All Countries (which doesn't even seem to scan at all) but with no luck. How do I set up MediaPortal for Irish tv?

Yeah I read that too which is why I bought a hybrid card. So I plugged it into my laptop and looked for the analogue channels in Media Centre. It found about 1 or 2 channels and the reception was really bad so I was about to give up when, out of curiosity, I tried scanning for channels using the DVB-T tuner in the card and lo-and-behold it found all four terrestrial channels, the RTE digital test channel, 4 radio stations and the EPGs for all of them!! I don't know how that is possible especially as I live in the very west of Ireland which has very bad analogue reception nevermind digital!

So it works on my laptop but I really want to get it going on my desktop computer which is running Windows XP which is why I installed MediaPortal. Is there any way I can manually scan for channels?

If you can get the transmitter frequencies from the software on the laptop, you can add them to the 'dvbt.xml' file which contains all the dvb-t transmitter channel information (it's buried in the TV-server install directory somewhere - for MP 1.0.2 at least, haven't tried 1.1.0 yet).

Which TV card etc are you using ?

Did you get any manufacturer software with youre Tuner Card?

Maybe you can try this first and see how many Channels it will find.
For DVB-T sometimes a stronger antenna (maybe you got an old one on the top of youre house) dows wonders.

I live in a part of Germany where we have a very good DVB-T signal quality, but also here you find more channels when you got a better antenna.
