How does Demux determine connections? (1 Viewer)

My Theatrix 650 card is loading two muxers for analog TV...
the old ATI Media Center Multiplexer and the new ATI AVSteam MPEG2 Multiplexer.
Demux connects to old Media Center Mux but still loads new avstream mux.
Also old MediaCenter Video Encoder is loading and connecting to old mux

AVStream Capture pin 0 ->old MCVidEnc -> oldMCMux -> Demux -> graph completes as expected
----------------------------1 ->no connection
----------------------------2 ->no connection
----------------------------3 -> AVStream Mux -> no connection
----------------------------4 -> AVSTreamMux -> no connection

This causes configuration.exe to lock up when the graph loads during tv channel scan/view.
I can modify with graphedit to elimitate old mux and connect new AVStream mux to Demux
and it works fine. Also, I modifed capturecarddefinitions.xml to use old video/audio encoders
and mux filters and it worked. Similar to TVWonderPro config but not quite.
With this config it does not load the ATIStream Mux.

How does Demux determine what Muxer it connects to ?
MediaPortal settings or System/drivers/filter merit ?.
