How should I title my movies for best importation into MP (1 Viewer)

Hello,

I'm still in the process of getting MP up and running and I am ripping a bunch of my movies to my hard drive to save space and to have access on demand. I am using handbrake to create .m4v files as this way my wife can put them on her IPOD for long plane flights, and they can be watched on MP. I want to title the movies and wanted to know if there is a "best practice" for doing this so that MP, well actually all the cool plug-ins for MP, will get the info for them (e.g. moving pictures grabbing info about them for display). I know that moving pictures wil do tv series, but I would also like to know if there is a "best practice" for TV series. We have all of the Friends DVD and thus would like to know how to title each file.

I would suggest ripping per episode and then use the TVSeries plugin.

Thanks for the info. So like
a) Friends.S01.E01
b) Friends.Episoid title.S01.E01
c) TV series.Friends.Episoid title.S01.E01

Or another version?

Then you can add episode title after. So Friends.S01E01.Episode.Title.avi But title is not important, it will be grabbed online anyways..

What I do for TV Series is

F:\TVSeries\Friends\Season 01\Friends.S01E01.ext

Using MP-TVSeries plugin I haven't had any trouble with that structure.

For movies I do:

F:\Movies\MovieName\Filename.ext
F:\Movies\MovieName\Filename.nfo

In the nfo simply drop the link to imdb for that movie, then using MovingPicture plugin, it will detect the link and associate the movie easier.

I too use the media/TV/seriesname/season xx/seriesname sxxexx - episodetitle.ext format:
media/tv/CSI/Season 10/CSI S10E13 - Internal Combustion.avi

TVseries picks them all up no problem

Movies I use moviename[year].ext:
Daybreakers[2009].avi

This clarifies when searching for movies with similar titles released in differing years - All working fine
