Hi is there anyone who could help me with this?
I have the PC on alway but find that MP regular gets confused and locks up at random times when leavin the MP program running.

I cannot use the standby function of the PC because I use the IMON receiver in the case.
This one uses USB and for some reason right after entering standby the PC wakes up again.
Switching of wake on USB will let the system go to standby but then again I cannot wake up again.

Shutting down MP from the remote (I would prefer the power button on my harmony one to do this) will help keeping the wife happy. Now I have to connect the mouse at least once a week to cloese MP which is bad for the WAF.

THanks for any help

Bert

    High expectations :)

    my experience says:
    1. I have to say that if Mediaportal hangs/lockup than you won´t be able to shut it down without a mouse and keyboard (you have to use task manager and kill process)
    2. if you simply want to shutdown a running MP you can navigate to the close button of the skin (mainly on homescreen)
    3. if you want something else you can write a batch file and link it to a multishortcut plugin (like .cmd file with kill MP, restart TV-Server and restart MP, I did this, this is working)
    4. you cannot map the power button of the harmony to any infrared commands!!! This is because of the concept of harmony: this button shuts down every device used by the current activity. So it will shut down your TV and send an IR signal to HTPC which you programmed for the MCE power toggle button (you can learn a different command for this but then it won´t be able to wakeup system from standby)
    5. I had to rewire my Antec case to get the IR Remote sensor working (as far as I remember I had to connect some power wire directly to the motherboard) for standby/wakeup
    6. best solution: get your MP installation stable!!!! and get a small wireless Keyboard/Touchpad combo (Keysonic)
    7. another workaround (needs standby working): setup HibernateTrigger, make 2 batch files for standby (kill MP) and wakeup (restart MP +- TVServer), in case of trouble hit standby button (remote or case), HibernateTrigger will kill Mediaportal, HTPC goes to standby, wait, wake HTPC (case or remote) and HibernateTrigger will restart MP.
    8. Soundgraph Hardware/software is a piece of crap with severe limitations and bugs.

I have no issues with imon and standby. and have a qite similar system.

but with the imon there is no need for standby anyway. you can send the system to "off" and the imon-timer will wake it. try gmps. then you just have to map "gmps /ifpossible" to any of your harmony keys and it will be fine!

    one more thing:

Mediaportal understands "exit mediaportal" command. If you use a MCR Remote with MCE receiver than you can custom map a button to this command (Remote/MCE/mapping/buttonname/all layers-action-exit mediaportal)

you have to know if you use Harmony as MCE over iMon receiver than this is not a MCE Remote anymore for Mediaportal but just a keyboard (you assign keyboard strokes to MCE buttons)
