is there a way to configure the plugins without leaving mediaportal?

is there a way to have mediaportal config ignore whether mediaportal is running?

right now, mediaportal config makes me exit mediaportal to start the config.

i frequently re-arrange folders and files on a secondary display while running mediaportal and that requires me to reconfigure mp-tvseries and 'moving pictures' to recognize the changes.

even a simple change of changing the movie associated with files in 'moving pictures' requires me to leave mediaportal just to make the adjustment.

Depending on the plugin, with TVSeries some configuration (options on|off) is possible from within the GUI of MePo, Moving Pictures, not yet..
Usually, re-arranging folders on the base path should not be such a problem. Do you give the plugins some time to pick up these changes and are these changes not to severe?

mainly, i've been working with 'moving pictures' and trying to get it to properly recognize my entire movie collection. there's just no way to manually change the movie associated with a file without going into MP config. there's also no way to manually assign artwork without going into MP config. also, 'moving pictures' seems to download artwork and movie details a lot faster when run through MP config rather than within MP.

maybe some sort of "use at your own risk" command-line option for configuration.exe to ignore whether MP is running?

perhaps you will have to wait untill Moving Pictures version is at 1.0:
Issue 83 - moving-pictures - Support close match resolution in MediaPortal GUI - Google Code

Reading your post again, why don't you manage your entire movie collection once from within the configuration program and enjoy it from the GUI?
Before I place a newly obtained movie in my watched folder, I include a small nfo file containing the link to the correct imdb page. Works like a charm and I don't have to worry about incorrect assignments. (granted, my collection can be found on imdb)
