How to control Media Portal via RS-232? (1 Viewer)

I was about to start a new installation of Media Portal and rather than using the USB-UIRT with an IR flasher (like I did in the past) I was hoping to control MP directly from my remote processor (a URC MSC-400) via RS-232 codes. Is this easy and possible?

My HTPC does have a serial input, so connection seems to be easy. I did notice there is a section in the expert configuration called SerialUIR which may be what I'm looking for, but I'm not sure what to set to what?!

Any help would be appreciated.

I appreciate the attempt, but that link/application is designed to "...have full control of any RS-232 capable device from my HTPC."

I'm looking for the reverse--to have control of MediaPortal from an external device.
