Hello there forum! This may be a 'stupid' question, but I'm gonna risk asking it anyways - in search of a clue - hahaha...so thanks in advance for your time and consideration. I am an extremely mobile person mostly for work. I plan to semi-retire so I can have an actual house/home-base sometime within the next 2 years - put down roots, so to speak. When that happens, it will make sense (at last) to store my multi-media library on a big computer (it's currently on many external hard-drives) and the MediaPortal looks like an excellent product for that use. In the meantime, I have lost movies and music due to broken or lost/stolen external hard drives and now find it necessary to find a place to store it all online...so my question is...can MediaPortal play an avi movie that is stored online? I am looking for a way to stream my personal/private media library from an online drive to my netbook or iPhone. Can MediaPortal do this? Or do you know anyone who can point me in the right direction? I haven't decided on an online storage site yet, I have been trying to find out if VLC can access/play an avi stored online, or if I need to do something between an online storage site and a pre-established live streaming site - but those seem to be set up with P2P sharing in mind which is not appropriate or workable (I don't believe)...or maybe I'll have to link from my media stored online to a wimpy player on my own website (i think that might work, but involves more steps -including flash conversion - than finding something that can play/stream the file directly from the online source to my netbook? Obviously I'm completely lost here...and I don't speak techie...yet, but I'm working on it. :) Anyways, thanks so much for reading and, from the bottom of my heart, I sincerely appreciate any help or guidance you can offer. Pura Vida! - Melinda
