hello all, I believe this is the right forum to ask this but if not let me know. I wanted to know how can I program my generic mce remote to open mediaportal when it isnt open. pretty simple.

Thank you hkjensen, I have followed the instruction and put the files to the mediaportal folder and double click the install. but nothing happens afterwards. any suggestions?

nope still no dice.

The remote I am using specifically is the vrc-1100. has the mouse pad on it. I have tried this twice and no dice. sorry bout the rhyme.

Do you use IRSS?
I am using the program called Translator (included in IRSS) to map the green start button to open MP.

Ok, lets see:
START, Programs, IRSS, Translator
Then you should see Translator's green icon in the system tray.
Double click to open.
In the PROGRAM-tab, Click on NEW
Press desired remote button
Give description
Assign Application as MediaPortal.exe (full path ) in the RUN-tab.
Test
OK
Make sure "Start Translator with Windows" is ticked.

okay I have followed your directions and the test worked. but when I press the start button on my remote the task bar and start menu properties window opens. What did I do wrong? My remote is a vista media center remote. or a knock off really. the model is vrc-1100. here Do I have to map something maybe? Idk.
