My apologies in advance for posting such a stupid question. I have the impression from other posts that it is possible to copy a CD on to hard disk using the MP interface. Unfortunately, my extensive searches through the Wiki and the forum haven't turned up any instructions for how to do this, nor have I found the appropriate action in the user interface. How can I copy the contents of a CD into my hard disk (MP3) music collection? What is meant by te settings "Import CD into DB" in the setup program?

when you have inserted a CD, you can navigate to the share view of it and use the context menu (F9). this gives you the optzion to Import/Rip the whole cd or some titles.
the setup program gives you the option to configure some settings.

Thanks for the tip. I went to the root directory of the CD in "Shares" and then pressed the "Info" key on my MCE remote to call up the context menu. I didn't find anything like "import" or "rip". The closest I saw was "Scan". Is this what you meant, or does this just add the contents of the CD to the music DB? I found the "Import" section in the setup, which had "don't import unknown tracks" checked. Could this be why I'm not getting anything to rip?
    I am using 0.2.2.0 with SVN MediaPortal-svn--05-10-2007--01-03-Rev14579.exe

P.S. I took away the check mark by "don't import unknown tracks" (and rebooted, justg to be sure), but didn't observe any change.

    Hi rsbrux,

You need to enable CD importing in Setup, first.
    open confirgutation.exe
got to Music -> Music Import and enable CD importing and adjust the settings to your needs.

    Regards
    Ralph

    Hi Ralph,
I had already checked "import into database" in the dialog Music - Music Import (see attachment). What else must I do to enable CD importing?
    Thanks for your help!
    Regards,
    Roger

ok if everything is configured then start mp, put the CD in the tray (click no if it asks to play the CD), go to my music, switch to share view, select your CD-ROM drive letter, enter this CD and then you'll see the list of track available on the CD then "info" on the remote control and "import CD" or "import selected track" :)

    Done !

I wish the import feature will be available from every view one time :)

    CHli,
Thanks, I was expecting to see this option at the drive level. After all, I want to rip the whole CD, not just one track. Where can I submit suggestions for user interface improvements?
