How to see subtitles during a pause? (1 Viewer)

I watch movies with subtitles. Sometimes I need pause a movie to read subtitle as I'm learn language and don't understand some words. But the pause bar (time line, options and etc.) obscures subtitles. So how not to show this bar on pause?
Any ideas?

Yes and I read it during pause. A phraze which is appeared on the monent of pause.
On Media Player Classic for exapmple I can read subtitle.

All depends on your skin...you could try another one or ask the skin author to create an option for a smaller one? With StreamedMP we added an option to have a minimal OSD when paused so users can pause and read subtitles.

Is it possible to modify an original skin?
Or say in what stable skin OSD doesn't obscure subtitles?

You can modify the blue3 skins yourself...but there is a bit of a learning curve. If you have not done it before its best just moving to skin that supports it already.

I dont know what other skins support a simplistic OSD when paused, im sure most of the HOT skins do so just try them out until you find one that you like:
