I'm getting a bit desperate here... :mad:
There are serveral ways that suppose to stop a running recording.
But unfortunately most ways to stop a recording just never work.
Some options to stop a running recording sometimes work, but on other times they don't.

Is there a way that works to stop a running planned recording?

For instance, I have a planned recording of "the sky at night" for "every time on every channel". Because in the EPG description it is not always clear wether it is a rerun or not, I always record them every time.
Now, today I wanted to watch an other show, but the sky at night started recording so I couldn't use my dvb-c card.
At this point I wanted to stop the recording of the sky at night so my dvb-c card would become available again.
...BUT HOW...!!

Trying to stop it on the main tv screen under 'Now recording' then hitting the recording you want to stop doesn't work;
Trying to stop it on the main tv screen by hitting "stop recording" doesn't work;
Trying to stop it on the planned recordings page hitting the recording and choosing "remove" doesn't work;
Through the EPG, hitting 'i', "change recording", and then hitting "dont record" doesn't work;
And through the EPG, hitting 'i', "change recording", and then hitting the running episode also doesn't work.

Whatever I do, the red dot always keeps popping back up!
I've reported this before with rc2 i think but it seems that it has never been looked at/fixed :(

If someone can tell me how to stop a running planned recording like above, I would really like to know! :D

    I am new to MP and I really surprised at the number of basic issues that are there with MP. What is even more appalling is that most of the questions just go unanswered. Even I have this problem and I do not see any point in posting a question as I do not think I will get an answer in a decent time frame.

    skoka123,

    There are so many basic questions that don't get answered because people can't be bothered to provide the sytem logs, which people who are willing to help so desperately need. None of us members have a cristal ball.

    The number of issues with MP????
    I run 6 computers with MP, all different hardware. I have zero problems and issues with MP and all systems run smooth. I do however have a golden rule, I don't install crap on my systems, no free ware, no trial ware and defenately no 2 programs that can do the same because this will cause trouble.

    Hi,

    I do understand that there are quite a few people who have an elaborate client-server setup. Setup that run very successfully. Good for them.

    I can only give observations from my perspective. I have been a Vista Media Center + XBox 360 user for sometime now. My family is also used to it. There are certain limitations with VMC that I hope to overcome with MP. Compared to VMC the setting up of MP is excruciatingly painful. Imagine for a setup that has an external STB one needs to manually key in all the hundreds of channels even though I have an XMLTV EPG file. Just when I think I got everything all set the IR commands do not work forcing me re-learn the STB codes over and over again.

    I know Team-MP does not have as much dough as M$ does. Being a freeware, users probably have no right to bitch about the product either. Though MS has lots of money they do not solve my problems if I run into one, do they? It is the forums that I go to (thegreenbutton, avsforum etc). It is only a matter of hours, often minutes, before my problem is resolved by one of the forum members. Generally, people do not know what logs to look for. At least in those forums my observation had been that I am told what logs need to be included and also how those logs can be generated.

    I will give you an example here at MP. Please see this thread (https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...-learnt-ir-codes-frequently-52824/#post362268). I posted that thread yesterday and so far there has been no response to the query other than moving it to another forum. It has already been a while since it was moved to that forum and I am still waiting for a kind soul to suggest a solution. If you notice, in that thread I have also asked for what logs need to be included. The problem is that I do not know what and where those logs are. I guess, that is what most newbies are running into.

    My system too does not have any crap on it. It is a fresh install of Vista Ultimate.

    I have read and re-read the manuals. It is really overwhelming. The problem is that the documentation is outdated (or so it seems). Sometimes the documentation does not refer to what version of the software it is for. The screenshots do not match what I see on my screen. The list goes on.... I guess for newbies what is required is a detailed guide based on one's setup. I mean, a different guide for a different setup. I know the combinations are too many but then at least the most common setups need to documented with proper software versions. So far, from the various forum posts that have been lucky enough to attract the senior and knowledgeable members attention, I see that the solutions have been like "disable this plugin", "enable that plugin" so on and so forth. At least, for me, installing a working MP setup seems to be a trial and error approach.

    At times I get so frustrated that I feel like going back to VMC and stick with it. Other times, I think I should try SageTV, being a paid software may be there is more support and less issues over there. I wouldn't know the problems I might face with SageTV unless I give it a try, would I?

    skoka123 - I honetly hope someone can pick up your other thread and help you out there, but lets try and keep kkendall's thread on topic please.

    kkendall - I am using ForTheRecord for my scheduling so unfortunately I cannot help you test your issues. Hopefully someone else can pick it up and provide assistance here.

    Indeed, back to this topic :D

    It's really weird it only happens sometimes...but when it happens, nothing that should make a recording stop works anymore...
    Could it be that the schedules can't be stopped because they are imported from an export from a previous MP version?
    I always export my tvchannels and schedules and import them in my new version, because there is no option to update (yet :) ) in MP.

    EDIT: It seems more and more people are switching to 4TR because of the limited and buggy standard MP recording section...Maybe I should check that out too...

    Couldn't stop recording when "timer after recoding" runs

    Hi,

    I only couldn't stop a timer recoding, when the film is finished but the "time after recoding" still run. Then I have no chance to stop it.

    - In Fullscreen doesn't work
    - In MyTV doesn't work
    - In Timer I have chance because the recording ist removed

    It seem to be a bug. If I stop the recording a few second before the normal recording time end it works. :confused:

    Hi flokel,

    here are my log files. Before I tested it, I deleted all log files. Then I started a new recording and at the end I want to stop it. In MyTV I pressed "stop recording" after some tries it changed to "recording" but the red recoding dot in the top is still there and when I want to switch to another channel a message box appears that no free TV card is available. Then I switch to the cannel of the recoding channel and then to fullscreen. Open the menu and there is also a button to stop the recording but yet it stops (the first time after many tries).

    After that I had a look into the logs and there are many exception after I pressed the first stop recording button. I hope it will help you.

    Bug is still there at my end with latest BETA. :(
    Trying to stop running recordings (sometimes nothing works :mad: ) is very frustrating.

    Since it is so inconsistant in it's behaviour it's hard to test or reproduce. Could it be caused by imported recordings planned in earlier versions of MP? Maybe newly planned recordings do better? Could one of the devs comment on this?
