How to update TV-Server?? (1 Viewer)

Hi Guys,

How can i do an update off the TV-Server without losing my tv channels and other settings?

When i try to install a new version of TV-Server i get the message that another version is installed and i can't update to a new version!!!

    You need to uninstall the previous vers. 1st.
    Do this in "add remove programs."

    Yeah it's quite a hassle.

    To preserve your channels etc. u will have to do a database backup + restore.
    Although it is rare that a new SVN build will reset your DB.
    This is all mentioned in another thread.

    Can you explane me how to do a backup an restore the database?
    I'm using MS SQL2005 Express.

    I jump in the 3d just because I was looking for the procedure to upgrade the TV Server too. AFAIK, the only way (as mentioned above) is backup the db, uninstall previous version and install new version. Usually all setting (and db) should remain unless a change in the db structure (fields or something else) are introduced. In this case you loose all your channels and even a db restore shouldn't work. I experienced this moving from TVS3 and SVN releases from 22-01-07 and 16-02-07. If no changes to the db are introduced, all channels and setting will pass from a release to the next
