I'm in the process of putting my first htpc together on an extremely small (miniscule) budget. I have ordered a used HP Compaq EVO D51u (2Ghz, 512Mb RAM with DVDRW) from ebay and hope to use it with a VGA to SVHS adapter cable on our existing TV. I chose this model because it is small and looks pretty cool too - not your average beige box. Has anyone else already used one of these and how successful is using a VGA/SVHS adapter cable? If it's a no-go all is not lost because a new TV is probably in the near future too - maybe one that has a VGA port would be the easiest option?
