Do you think that the forum should cover more general HTPC topics?

Ok, I have been thinking of this for a couple of days so here we go. Would it be a good idea to expand the forums to include a couple of other HTPC areas so that you can talk about other things then just MP? The idea is that you would have more reason to stay in the forum and you would not have to go to an other forum to talk about the best hardware for your HTPC, best case to buy etc.

Offcourse this means that there would be more work to maintain the forums and that is something that someone else should do since admin takes time from development.

Woud this be a logical way to go to make it a wider forum and to please people?

Let me know your thoughts and ideas regarding this.

    Hi Samsonite,

hmmm, difficult question. I voted for no, because i want this forum to stay MP only. ;) Those subforums about HTPC in general are not used often. The biggest problem there would be to much subforums (general hardware, cases, lcd, remote, etc.). This soon could grow to much.

On the other hand i like sometimes discussions about HTPC and hardware. I also like the idea to bind more people here.

So a small HTPC corner could be great! I only fear that the calls for more and more subforums could make the forum grow to big. If this is under control, i would not say no. ;)

Maybe it is a suggestion to add a technical 'high-end tweaks' area for HTPC.

There can be some discussion about, for example, Jitter en clock issues, cable tweaks, power supplies, shielding, fan noise etc.

I think that discussions about hardware are often bound to the htpc-software. For example, an epia might be a good platform for MP while **central aka M**dio has some serious problems with it. From my point of view the current structure is flexible enough to allow also general discussions.

I think it is good to let it round of MP

An special Forum for all over HTPC is good when it is seperate.

    Besides it getting to voluminous.

There can be to links on the Website one for MP Forum and one of HTPC

The thought was to provide more options for the visitor. If you split it up you might as well go to another forum. I am not saying that we should add several sections but you could try to add one or two to start with and see if there is any interest to post in those sections.

I would love a specific thread discussing hardware. I am currently building a htpc and find it kind of hard to find reviews/opinions about hardware aimed at htpc use. Most of the hardware info i read only concern pure gaming. To be able to discuss htpc/mediaportal specific hardware/issues would, in my opinion, be great.
