If timeshifting works then recording and all the other functions should work (maybe you mean timeshifting in TV Server manual control section?). Preview in TV Server may well not work unless you have appropriate <a href="http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_MEDIAPORTAL_1/11_Preparing_Your_System/1_Codecs" target="_blank">codecs</a> installed and the codec merits on your system are set correctly. I do suspect codec issues in MP as well as it doesn't look like you've set your <a href="http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_MEDIAPORTAL_1/141_Configuration/MediaPortal_Configuration/9_Codecs_and_Renderer" target="_blank">codec preferences in MP configuration</a> (make sure to do both video and TV). I always advise people starting out with codecs and/or MP to test channels *in* MP rather than with TV Server preview unless you understand <a href="http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd940318%28v=vs.85%29.aspx" target="_blank">codec merits</a>.
