HVR1600 and external channels (no tuning information) (1 Viewer)

Hopefully someone can help...external channels are giving me fits!! I'm currently using a HVR1600 connected to my Comcast cable box. From what i've read it sounds like every channel I'd like to add will be External. When adding a new channel i'm entering in a name for the channel and then under the external tab: Received by external settop box, the channel #, and the input via field (I'm not 100% sure which input to use but i've tried them all). I then have all of the channels assigned to the TV card. Unfortunately every channel displays "No tuning info available" when trying to access them under MyTV. When changing channels via the channel guide the IR Blaster does change the channel on the cable box. The channel guide info is being provided by Zap2it.

I keep thinking that I must be missing a step somewhere but haven't been able to find it yet!

I had a similar problem when i upgraded to MediaPortal 0.2.3.0 RC1.
What I did was:

1. Uninstall MediaPortal
2. Delete the MediaPortal Folder
3. Installed MediaPortal 0.2.2.0 Stable
4. Edit CaptionCardDefinitions see link for code https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/hauppuage_hvr_1600_support-t19107.html?t=19107&highlight=hvr+1600
5. Save copy of file to desktop
6. Uninstalled MediaPortal Stable (delete the MediaPortal folder)
7. Installed MediaPortal 0.2.3.0 RC1
8. Replaced CaptionCardDefinitions file
9. Enter MediaPortal Setup: Should find NTSC Tuner (have not tested ATSC)
10. Go to TV Channel, Add Channel, Under the general tab Enter the Channel Name (CBS Fox etc.), External Tab enter Recieved by External Box, Select CVBS1# if you are using the middle Coaxial connector on the HVR1600, Enter Comcast Channel Number in the last box.
11. Assign the channels to the NTSC Tuner
