I can't scan TV-channels with Terratec Cinergy HT PCI MKII (1 Viewer)

I have a Terratec Cinergy HT PCI KMII, dual core with a P5G41T-M LE from ASUS and 4GB. I have tried both internal INTEL VGA and a additional NVIDIA GT 430 but with MediaPortal it seem to be nessesary to "install a supported audio/video encoder for your software analog card". I don't understand the need for a encoder and the "analog card". Is it detected to be something else than it is? It seem to have a correct name in TV-server configuration but i can't scan for channels.
Any ideas?

Hi there

You need a software encoder to digitise the analog signal. Please read this and this to help you understand what is required. I usually recommend the ATI AVIVO encoders, but since you are using an NVidia graphics card you should try to install WinDVR 3...

As you recommended, i installed WinDVR 3. It wasn't straight forward because it seem to have difficulties with detecting dual cores processors and some errors occured during installations. I guess it is because WinDVR 3 is not maintained any more.
Some additional and windvr related drivers fixed it thou. Now it is possible to see and but not hear TV through WINDVR 3 viewer. Apparently the sound channel "line in" is not detected by WinDVR3.

I turned WinDVR 3 off and started Mediaportals Tv-server.

Mediaportal TV-Server detected all the TV-channels by the detected boards analoge units even thought it was a slow process. Also the FM-radio channels was very slow (0.1MHz / 7 seconds or ~27 minutes for the full band). Low, medium or high sensitivty didn't change the speed of the search. However with medium, all of them was properly detected.

Mediaportal itself can now present radio channels but not TV. TV list is not viewed and not the picture either. It is confusing...

Maybe there is a known thread about this issue ...

Analog scanning is often very slow. It takes me about 6 seconds to switch between each FM channel, and this is because the driver for my TV tuner takes 6 seconds to provide the audio and video to TV Server. It should be faster to use low or medium sensitivity. Actually in the code "sensitivity" means "how many scans". For "low" it is 1, "medium" 2, and "high" is 10 - you definitely don't want to use high unless you have to!

I can't recommend a thread without knowing the problem, and to know the problem I need to see your TV Server logs. Please post them here so I can take a look...
