I need Hauppauge IR for external apps (1 Viewer)

I have a hauppauge silver 45 button remote and I'm running 0.2.0.4. Recently MP has stopped using the IR Remote app and now works without it. This is working for me but I previously used the IR program to launch MP from my XP desktop. I also launched zoomplayer from within MP to watch avi's and such. I used the IR program to control all this. Now when I leave IR on in the background and launch MP it causes the Hcw problem.

Is there a way I can use IR again without this problem? Or launch MP and control zoomplayer without IR?

Thanks

Go to configuration.exe / Remote / Hauppauge and enable "External processes may use the remote control". Let the Hauppauge IR app running when starting MP. Now, when you start any other application, IR.exe is automatically started and takes over control as you have been used to it. As soon as you return to MP, it will close the IR app and take over control again.

Thanks but this seems really hit or miss for me. Sometimes the remote just isn't picked up which is very annoying. I would prefer future releases of MP to use the controller the old way. I'm still running IR either way :?

If i can change the subject, Is there a way I can permanently remove the cd/dvd drive from showing in video folders, music folders etc. When I delete them in the config they come back every time I go back to the config. It's not a big prob. Just don't use them.

Thanks again

What old way?! There is no old way. Before the current implementation there was.... nothing. You can always disable the remote in MP and use this crappy IR.exe to send keystrokes. Keep in mind that you'll have heavily reduced functionality in MP then.
But without some more information what "hits or misses" for you it's hard to give you support.

Nope.

Ok, I didn't realize there was no old way. I thought this because every MP build after 0.2.0.0 had this problem for me: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/viewtopic.php?t=17219.
Mr Mad's solution mentioned worked for me, but left me with another small prob. I think the hit or miss's I was talking about are mostly caused when the mouse cursor auto hides. To solve this I quickly press a button on the remote before the cursor disappears or turn off the cursor auto hide feature. Neither are very convenient.
Was wondering if anyone else had this prob and if there's a better solution?
