I really want to love this software but it's just driving me crazy. Most features do seem to work as advertised but if you click one wrong button or press one wrong key your asking for a lock-up that is nearly impossible to recover from. Especially when watching DVD video. MP consumes every ounce of your PCs resources and absolutely takes over the box. My PC has abundant resources: P4 3gHz, 2GB of RAM, WinXP Pro, and over half a TB of free space so I know MP has got to be wrecking lesser machines.

Is there something I might be doing wrong to cause these hang-ups? An incorrect config setting?

Thanks guys :)

Version? Logs? Where do you find the problems?

It's hard to tell on so little information. Altough I do have lockups (not as frequent as you say) I'am using SVN versions, where this is expected.

I'm using the latest stable MP version 2.2. I'm at work right now so can't post logs until this evening. Most of my lockups are when playing video in fullscreen. Last night we were watching a ripped DVD, I reached for the keyboard and brushed the scroll wheel on the mouse, that locked up the machine for at least five minutes. The CPU pegs at 100% usage and it totally freezes. I have to sit and wait for my PC to respond to keys.

Thanks for the reply the joboehl :)
