Image on TV is larger than TV (1 Viewer)

Hi,
I'm not really sure where to ask this, but I figured this would be a good place to try. Sorry if I am totally off.
This is not related to media portal, at all, but I figured you guys would be my best chance of solving this.

My tv-client is running windows 7 ultra and has an intel DH67CF mainboard, with integrated graphics. With the i3-2100T, this runs great, BUT after my last re-install, I'm seeing a strange problem.
My resolution is set to 1920x1080, which my Samsung TV has as native, but the image is larger than the monitor.
The monitor automatically sets the input size to 16:9, as it should, but that means the whole image doesn't fit.
If I lower the resolution, it also doesn't fit, everything is just scaled up more.
The only solution I have so far, which is really a work-around, is to manually switch the tv's picture-size to Just-Scan, instead of 16:9.

Any ideas what could cause this? It is almost like the computer things the monitor/tv is larger than it actually is.

For my AMD integrated graphics HD4250 card, the CCC (Catalyst Control Center) has a setting for Underscan/Overscan. Perhaps (shot in the dark) there is an equivalent for your card?

This might be of interest - are your drivers for the integrated graphics up-to-date? You need to get them directly from intel's site, rather than letting Windows do the business.

Hey guys,
Thank you for your answers.
I am running the latest bios version, and the latest Intel HD drivers, from intel.com.
The worst thing is, this wasn't an issue on my old install. Maybe the older drivers were better.

But atleast, now I know my problem is called Overscan, so at the very least, I can go google-crazy.

I had the same issue and I too am using the Integrated GFX of the Core i3 when using HDMI.

Using the Intel graphics management tool i needed to change the 'custom aspect scale' and drag it down to 60% for both the X and Y axis.

I have a Sony LCD 55" and the above setting ensures that my entire desktop and therefore MediaPortal frontend and content are displayed.

Just take note that after you set this if you ever upgrade the Intel drivers and/or Graphics Properties application you will need to reconfigure this setting.

Did you check the settings in your tv set? Normally there is a choice to set the mode to "Just scan", "PC-Mode" which turn off the overscan from your tv.

yeah, Samsung TV:s has to be set to "fit to source" (I think its called) insted of "16:9"!!

Yea, the problem with this, is that every reboot of the HTPC, the TV reverts back to 16:9

I ended up down-scaling the picture, in the graphics drivers. I am not truly happy about it, but it means that the picture size fits, on the 16:9 setting.

I had a similar experice with my old Samsung tv. First i used a VGA-cable to the HTPC and using this i had no problem after a reboot of the computer. But later i replaced the cable with a HDMI cable insted and then i had to change the picture mode to "fit to source" every time i reboot the computer.
As i always set the computer so sleep mode, i could live with this.

But now with my new Samsung TV ( and same HTPC) i do not have this issue any more, so in my case at least there where more a bug in the TV firmware than a PC issue.
