This is my first post here, so Hi All :D

So, im planning to build a HTPC and already have all the needed hardware. My main question is which remote control is better?

The Hauppauge 1600 Tv card one:
Amazon.com: Hauppauge 1199 WinTV HVR-1600 Internal PCI Dual TV Tuner/Video Recorder with IR Receiver and Blaster: Electronics

or the iMon one (that comes with this case):
3RSYSTEM

Im asking because I think that buying the case (it already comes with a card reader, remote and LCD) would be a much better deal than buying the hauppauge remote (im going to buy the card anyway) and having to buy a card reader and a LCD.

Im asking because I dont about the Media Portal compatibility with the LCD and the remote. Will the hauapuge one works better with MediaPortal or the iMon one? Is the iMon LCD compatibility with MediaPortal good or I will have any issue? Is it better to buy the hauppauge + controller and another LCD? If yes, where I can get an LCD for my htpc case besides the Matrix Orbital ones (since they are pricey)?

I have not tried the Hauppague one, but the thing I really like about the Imon remotes is that they are very versatile because you can map buttons to do "whatever" you want.

This is especially useful in combination with a Harmony One remote and the shortcuter-plug-in for Medaportal. The way I have it now I can open MovingPictures, and TV-Series with one button in adition to the normal shortcuts for videos, Pictures, TV and Music. You can basically link to any plug-in you want.

The downside tough is that it does not have the best range, atleast not compared to the MCE-remote.

Thats very good news! But you mean you can map it in MediaPortal or in the iMon Software?

How is the iMon Receiver? Does it have a blaster (I really need this to change the channels at my cable decoder)?

You can map the signals in the Imon software.

I don't understand your second question. I've got the Silverstone LC16M which has the Imon infrared intergrated. As zicoz says the range is not the best but it's fine for me.

Thanks for your reply! Im planning to buy this case:
    3RSYSTEM

But I tought they were going to send a receiver with it (a usb receiver, some cable you connect into the case, I dont know..). How does the integrated receiver works?

And by blaster i mean a way to change the cable TV decoder channels at the same time you change them into MediaPortal. The hauppauge tv-card comes with a controller that has a small cable that you connect into the tv card AND in the cable tv decoder.

The reciever sits in the case. I am not sure where, but there is a good chance it's part of the LED-screen And you can connect it to the motherboard inside the case so that you don't have to pull a cable out the expansion slots ot fanholes. As you can see further down on that page there is alot of cables from the front that needs to go to the motherboard, and I think the one that works for the reciever is the one labeled for LCD so make sure your motherboard has alot of USB-connectors on the board itself and not just on the back.

I don't think there is a blaster in the Imon software, but it might be possible for the MP-software (Or possibly the IR-Server Suite but I don't know how well it works to have both the Imon software aswell as the IRSS) to do this job.

When installing the Imon software, there is no need to install the Imedian software it's the same installer, but you can choose what to install.
