Hi
I'm using a iMov VFD in my HTPC. I'm not to happy with the included remote. Is there a way to keep the VFD but replace the remote with, for example, a MCE remote or the new XBox remote??? (nice looking)
Using the MCE you can turn the PC on and off but it depends mainly on your other hardware (Motherboard mainly). Generally you don't shutdown the computer totally so the wake up is faster. So you put it to "suspend-to-ram" aka suspend or "suspend-to-disk" as hibernate.
The MCE remote is fully capable of this put it's a bit more tricky than with the Imon remote. (because the Imon remote is using a direct connection on the PSU to raise the computer and the MCE remote uses the USB wake up functionnality.
If you search through the forum you'll find an interesting thread about waking up your computer with MCE remote.
Agree. The iMons direction pad is not that accurate and its not that easy to navigate in the MP menus with it. Maybe my thumb is to big but I doubt it. I belive its hard to replace it though. I have tested to program my programmable remote to simulate the iMon remote with no luck. All button but the direction pad worked
As stated earlier the iMon have som nice functions, power on/off and power on timer functionality.
There is no need to get a new remote system. i use a iMon remote station system. i too did not like the look of the remote. you can just open the iMon icon and click the add button. then check the gernal remote. make sure u select the new remote in the drop down menu from the "main" window.
now have to go into setup and teach it all the new remote IR singals and what u wish them to do.
this is what i have done with my LCD touch screen remote and it all works fine, even the power off/on buttom
here 2 pics of my remote(just because i think is sexy) with custem media portal menu. i can control MP nicely with buttons.
Yes?? Could you explain how i can get mine to behave properly?? Looked aound the forum, found some directions, that didn't work... I'm using iMon Pad...
That could have been useful alternative to the CEC Remote, shame they stopped making the Harmony. I have not given up completely on the CEC Remote, there is an option to trigger putting the TV and AVR into standby when MP closes which I want to try, currently I do not have that enabled as it means both video and audio devices will be...

I don't know if it makes any difference, but MPC-VR is open source too, so that might make it easier to integrate if you can access the code to see what it's doing.
I don't think madVR was opensource IIRC

Thanks for explaining. I found a passing reference to this here:
https://www.team-mediaportal.com/wiki/display/MediaPortal1/HID%20Profiles
which I had overlooked in the past. I would find it logical for a created custom profile to be automatically activated, but until that happens, I will try to create a wiki page for the current...

I am running a Xubuntu machine as a server with all my movies and series on it, I run a VirtualBox VM with Windows 10 installed on the virtual machine and MP1 client installed on that.
MP runs fine on the VM but I no longer have a tv tuner to test if passthrough is possible. I don't think it would work anyway.
