It'd be nice to have index files for directories, since as far as I'm aware there isn't an equivalent to id3 tags for movie (and image) files.  This would be particularly useful for removable media.

Perhaps CSV or XML with something like the following:

Television:

filename, Show, Year, Episode, Title

Images:

filename, Year, Location

Movies

filename, Title, genre, star?

Then obviously you'd need to be able to view the details.
