I know that you can manually switch the view to 'watched' movies and that you can tag a movie as watched but is it at all possible to make the default view or any other view for that matter 'dim out' watched movies the way in which TVservies and My Videos can/do?

I just mocked up an example. Here is what we'd see if Dune and JttCotE were 'watched'

Well, this is something we would like to do but the color system with the list controls in the GUI is not very flexible. Basically as things stand right now we have only been able to get two colors to work, and currently we have the normal color, and then an alternate color for grouping headers while sorting (coming in 0.8). So to have fading for watched movies, we would either have to throw out the grouping headers or submit a patch to the MePo guys to more flexibly handle colors. I think this is something we would like to do, but it's probably not on the plate for 0.8.

EDIT: I created an issue on our tracker for this so that we do not forget about it. If you feel you have anything to add to the idea that I did not mention in the opening post for the issue, feel free to post over there.

Is this because of how heavily the plugin relies on the built in 'my videos' module? I know that the TV series plugin can do at least 3 colors (watched/unwatched/not available locally)

What do you mean with "heavily...relies on the built in my videos"?
Moving Pictures does not rely on that plugin in any way.

With the skin I use (StreamedMP), MP-TVSeries uses icons for watched and unwatched. Maybe this is a skin thing though. Are you certain it uses different text colors for this? If you can get me a screenshot, it may be helpful with tracking down how this is accomplished in TVSeries.

Read my post here it explains it all

Would this be possible?

A "NEW" stamp over the cover of the unwatched movies?

It would be a really nice feature.

You can show off your entire collection, yet it is easy to spot your new additions.

What do you people think??

I just installed StreamedMP-0.8.448 from streamedmp - Google Code and It has watched / not watched icons!
I thought this wasn't possible on MovingPictures
So next question, on the normal skins that come with MovingPictures where does it show watched/not watched status?
