hi guys,

i've got some problem with mediaportal start up. (full screen)

every time when mp auto starts when i start my htpc mp freezes at initializing directX.
the only thing i can do is end the process and manually start MP.
when i manually start mp i don't have any problem and it is running very well (fingers crossed).

i do get the following error when it start automatically.
This sample cannot run in a desktop window with the current display settings.
Please change your desktop settings to a 16- or 32-bit display mode and re-run this sample.

this is an excerpt from the error log:

i can't seem to find the reason for this error.
my display settings looking all ok.
my screen is set at 32 bits as it always has been.
when i start manually i don't have this error.

anybody who can help me out with this problem.
it's really frustrating to restart it manually every time.

nobody?
i still haven't found the problem.

i allready uninstalled and reinstalled my graphics card driver (nvidia 9500 GT) but nothing changed.
did also an registry clean, also with no luck.
i checked the dxdiag but i dont see anything wrong.
i was going to reinstall directx11 ( running win7) but i cant seem to find a download for directx11.

i also tried with a start up delay.
bu the strange thing is when i start up the htpc i don't see mp counting down.
but when start manually i see it counting before it start loading up mp.

so if anybody can help me with this frustrating problem i will be very gratefull.
i'll even give you a thank you :)

the only thing i did is change the desktop background to a solid color. i did not change any theme or anything else.
it would be very abnormal and strange if that is the problem.

but anyway i will give it a try and change back to the default background image.

i'll do this straight away.
i'll let you know the results of this.

yes thats the problem the solid color if you use them then mp loads before the directx load properly and it makes mp to crash.something like this with simple words :)

well i'll be damned.
i just changed it back to default and now it is running without any problem.

how can this be possible. all i did was change the background to a black color.
is there anyway to bypass this? i mean, i just want a solid background color without having this problems i had the last few days.
i tried anything except this. and now i see that the problem al along was just this stupid background.

it's not looking the way i want it too, but it is working now.

maybe i can try to change it back to a solid color and set the process priority of MP to low.
i did not try this yet.

thanks,

Since you failed at giving system specs away :)D), I'm guessing you're using W7.

If so, you can also delay startup of MP w/30 sec (although using a picture - ie a logo) is much smoother.
