Hello everyone.

I'm looking for some help/input in order decide on a new graphics card for my HTPC.

First things first. I recently chopped up my dated desktop system and rebuild it as a HTPC. The basic hardware was an Athlon XP 1600+, Asus nForce2 Deluxe and a Radeon 9600 Pro with passive cooling.

Since then I've replaced the PSU with a quieter model and the CPU with an Athlon XP 2500+ mobile and I'm very pleased with this setup ( rest of the system is in my specs on the left ).

Now I wasn't planning on doing any gaming on the HTPC ( it will kill the WAF over time and I have a very high WAF at the moment *g* ), however, after replacing the PSU and the CPU I now have enough spare parts to build a budget desktop PC until I decide to do a complete upgrade. The only thing I need is a graphics card for the desktop.

Now, when this budget desktop gets tossed out later on I'd like to be able to take the graphics card and use it in my HTPC, which of course limits my options.

So, given the following criteria, which card would you guys suggest;

AGP x8
Passsive cooling
Purevideo/AVIVO/HDTV capabilities for HTPC
Enough fillrate to power a 1680x1050 native resolution on my 20.1" LCD

    Most Nvidia 6200, 6600,7300 will do most of above, HDTV will require 6600gt or above for 1080i hdtv.
    or of course the ATI alternatives.

    but none of those has ANY gaming potential at 1680x1050

    you probably need the BEST AGP 8x you can find and still it will be tough
