I mostly switch channel by channel number. But Mediaportal is a real pain there, because you can't see what number you type and therefore can't see if you make an error. That's especially with channel numbers >100 quite hard.

I'd really like to get a popup window in LiveTV where my current channel number input would be shown:

E.G. I type a 1 --> a popup (perhaps in the top right of the screen) shows a 1 --> I add a 2 --> pop window shows 12

Every other TV or receiver has that, why not MP? It really quite useful...
