Here it is 2011 and time for a new Series of Inside Scoops! What better way to start off the year than by highlighting the invaluable contributions made by our community. Many developers quietly yet consistently help to improve MediaPortal year in year out.

The purpose of this Blog on Our Community is to recognize and thank them for their contributions, as well as to give you the Inside Scoop on just how vast and important our community network is.

There are so many contributors, it is not easy to 'catch' them all. If I left anyone out, I sincerely apologize, and please add them to this thread.

Thanks to all those who contribute to making MediaPortal even better!

    :D

It would be nice to have localized EPG Grabbers (WebEPG) and Tuning Details in the same way you have plugins & skins. Thereby you could download the newest, and especially report those who are obsolete and not working.

We are planning to allow updating those from within TV Server configuration. We also want this information to be maintained outside SVN (perhaps there should still be a copy in SVN) in a repository so that the information can be updated by the community.

Regarding reporting bugs and not working grabbers/tuning details, we have not currently defined a standard way of doing this. For the time being this is done in WebEPG - MediaPortal Forum for grabbers.

There is no standard place to report issues with tuning details but since tuning details file format is pretty simple we expect that anyone that notices there is something wrong or missing can fix it and post the updated tuning details in Submit: EPG-Grabbers and tuningdetails - MediaPortal Forum . Even if someone cannot directly fix the tuning details file, posting in that forum describing what and how it needs to be fixed, some other will usually do it and provide an updated file.

The reason these are not handled in the bug reports forum, is simply that the team cannot and does not maintain the tuning details and WebEPG grabbers - there is simply not enough manpower to do it and neither the possibility to test as we do not have a team developer in every country / location we support. The maintenance of this information has been and always will be a community effort. Of course we always try to do the best we can to support and help our community in that effort.
