I have just installed the most recent SVN, which has fixed a bug where the TV Server crashed when scanning for analog channels with my ASUS MyCinema P7131 Hybrid. Now the TV Server doesn't crash, but instead I get this error message: "Please install a supported audio/video encoder for your software analog card."

I have tried setting Mediaportal up with lots of different mpeg2 video and audio encoders, hoping that maybe one of them would make it work, but it seems to happen no matter which encoder is chosen. The tuner works fine in Windows Media Center, so I guess I must have some supported encoder installed.

I am trying to receive analog PAL tv through cable.

I have attached a log file, and below is a snippet from the TV Server log, where it seems the problem is present:

Just want you to know, you are not alone, I just got this problem with latest SVN too.

I got a TerraTec Cinergy HTC USB XS HD.

Edit; Someone should move this thread to here: MediaPortal 1.1.0 BETA 1 - MediaPortal Forum

Got a easy solution for you that worked for me:

1. Download/Install WinDVR 3 trial.
2. Re-run tv-server scan.

Thanks

That work great for me.

I have a TerraTec Cinergy Hybrid Stick wich i couldn't get it to work until i see this post.

I just installed mediaportal for the first time and was having this problem with a Mygica U6012A USB tuner.

Thanks bt86bt! Your solution (windvr) worked for me.

I am getting the same message. However, I installed InterVideo WinDVR 3 and the issue persists. In MediaPortal Configuration I have the following options under Codecs and Renderer -> TV Codecs:

MPEG-2 Video decoder: InterVideo Multiplexer, InterVideo Video Decoder, Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder, MPC - MPEG-2 Video Decoder (Gabest)

H.264 Video decoder: Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder

All the audio decoders are populated as well. I have tried every option under the MPEG-2 Video decoder setting and I still get the same error each time. Please let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions.

Thanks!

Edit: Sorry, the tuner in question is MSI Digital @nyWhere ATSC being used in Analog mode.

    Hi and welcome nrfind :)

In MediaPortal Configuration I have the following options under Codecs and Renderer -> TV Codecs...
What you're dealing with is encoder issues. These are decoder settings - totally irrelevant. Encoding is the opposite of decoding.

Please let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions.
Restart your computer and try again. If the error persists, post your logs using the watchdog:

    1. Find the "debug mode" link in the "Team MediaPortal" folder in your start menu.
    2. Start it.
    3. Select option 3 "export all currently present logs".
    4. Click "proceed" - this will create a zip file on your desktop.
    5. Post the zip file here.

If you get stuck check the wiki link as there is more detail (for example it describes how to attach a zip file to a post). Also, make sure you've run MediaPortal configuration at least once before attempting to use the watchdog.

PS: for those reading this in the future, details about the setup of tuners that require software encoders are available in our wiki -->here<--.
