Hi All

The idea of this post is to put all my links for a basic Mediaportal with TV install for the UK, some apply to any Country.

Updates posts welcome, but this is not for reporting things not running for you, this is to make your initial install have some bells and whistles.

TV Logo's, these show in epg\recordings, TritonT and others do a great job of maintaining, these need to be unpacked in the Thumbs folder and create TV and Radio folders with the logo's inside, easiest way of finding this for all, user files, top left of MP Config is the link.

Weather image url's, exactly what they say

Sky TV, how to get Sky to run with MP

TV Status icon, this is for users who like the mce like icon in the systray, whether MP is running or not, giving you current status of TVServer (grabbing epg\recording etc).

Launch MP with the remote green button, try MPTrayMod

Simple codec guide, shows you what you need to play most video files.

Good guide for installing the TVSeries plugin

Well that's all for now, hopefully people will do there own Country specific, One Stop Shops, believe this will make it a lot easier for a initial install, and looking for those little bits that finish things off.

Any idea where i can get some fairly standardised logos for movie genres???? Comecdy,horror ect? maybe some movie website i can rip them from?
Ive hunted high and low to no avail
Also i want some for music genres but im guessing there are too many to get a good simple set of them

Personally, I borrowed genre icons from SageTV. A few examples:

Last I checked, genre thumbs weren't actually used in the genre view for videos, though. Maybe that's been fixed by now. I am on an early RC2 svn, I think.

Streamline MP running

lol, Ill ad my own now
I have come across a great way to start MP
I use it to run MP on my one pc so i can run a fully featured pc and switch it to a htpc therfore using one box to do 2 seperate functions witrhout dualbooting or wasting resources

It is basically a script from a .bat that will in order
- close down all unnecesarry running programs
- stop any unneeded processes
- run any s\w that is only used for MP (remotes, Last FM, ect)
- Run MP
- Wait until MP closes and..
- Stop MP specific apps (remotes ect)
- reinitialise all services used for PC
- reinitialise all programs


This way i can unload about 150mb ram and services and the cpu power
Stop any slow spots (while updating ect)
allow me to run a fancy XP with sidebar and all my little tools then switch to a very cutdown streamlined xp while running MP, which allowed me to remove my dual boot function and it 10000x easier

you need to put the process.exe in c: and then its just a batch file

c:\mediaportal\mediaportal.exe RUNS MP AND..... WIAITS UNTIL ITS CLOSED UNTIL IT PROCEEDS TO NEXT STEP
DIDNT EXPECT THIS BEHAVIOUR BUT IT WAS THE REASON TO RUNNING ONE
SCRIPT AND WORKS BEAUTIFULLY

start explorer.exe RESTARTS EVERYTHING THAT WAS CLOSED PREVIOUSLY
