For me I have only noticed those controls when I use the internal player. If I press "I" on my remote or "Y" on the keyboard (IIRC) when in full screen video and then press it again, or look at the films synopsis at the bottom where you see the extra controls, you will find the subtitle options, which don't work. You also find many video options, one of them being a slider to delay the video, for me I just can't get that slider to move.
