Hi,

i searching new mediacenter.
actually i use amd fusion e350 with nvidia gt210 gpu. (onboard amd gpu i have trouble with video qualtiy)

i think about a Intel H61 Mainboard with the i3 2100 processor.
is the gpu from intel fast enough for bluray and HDTV (DVB-S2 and MKV) streaming?

this system is for the client from mediaportal..
in the master/server is the cine s2 tv card and the raid system.

best regards

I heard that the Sandy Bridge's can handle both, TV and Bluray. But to make sure, you could take the i3-2105 with HD3000 gpu.
You should only think of the 24p bug when playing 24p stuff.

I would take an other gpu, because the gt210 is not very powerfull. I would recommend you a AMD HD6570 or a gf 520.

Hi,

very fine :)
AMD is also the best HTPC card for Windows clients..

hmm...
all this cards cooled passive:
SAPPHIRE HD6570 ULTIMATE
XFX HD6570
SAPPHIRE HD6670 ULTIMATE

whitch one is the best and is the HD6670 really better than the HD6570?

thanks a lot!

The HD6570 has more than enough power for a HTPC. I'm also going to buy the Sapphire one and looking forward to receive it within a week.

    Hi,

The nVidia GT210 is a little underpowered. I replaced mine with a GT430 and see a massive difference.

For what it's worth, I see many people on the forums complaining about the AMD drivers. It seems that every time the drivers are updated, something goes wrong. This is why I tend to avoid AMD cards. My experience with nVidia cards is very positive.

Why the need for a passively cooled card? As long as the fan is quiet, you probably won't notice it anyway.
