Until I updated the BIOS I was having issues with stutters that would occur during extended playback. Around 15-20 minutes into an h264 viewing, I'd hear the fan speed up in my case and then the video would begin to stutter and fall out of sync.
I apologize before hand but I only speak English (dumb American). I just switched over to the i3 530 with a Gigabyte GA-H55-UD2H motherboard. So far my experiences have been reasonably decent. I am using the intel 2082 drivers since I heard there were issues with the newer 2086's and Gigabyte's are old (2057), and I also updated my bios to the most current F8. Until I updated the BIOS I was having issues with stutters that would occur during extended playback. Around 15-20 minutes into an h264 viewing, I'd hear the fan speed up in my case and then the video would begin to stutter and fall out of sync. Pausing would not fix the video but stopping and restarting it would. Some have attributed it to the C states and EIST functions in the BIOS but I never got around to testing it because the BIOS update seemed to fix it. Currently I am using the SAF 5 beta for my codec/filtering (I'm 2 releases behind - hoborg works too fast for me heh). The only issues I'm having currently with VC-1 playback (this could be more than just the new drivers/intel chipset) in which I can't get DXVA to work and with normal FFDshow handling it (not DXVA) it tends to skip out and not play smoothly and skip or just stall up during playback. I noticed a lot of other people have been having problems with VC-1 as of late so I'm just going to wait for some new driver and SAF releases before I really dive into it. Power usage is down around 40-60W's which I am very happy about. I'm wondering if I can underclock/undervolt the processor and ram further to drop this even more. I don't use audio pass through because my receiver has a delay if I do this. The audio will be around 150ms off... enough so that it's annoying. My receiver also is not TruHD compatible etc. so I can't test the bitstreaming abilities of the i3 setup. Once I get this all ironed out I'll begin exploring purchasing a new receiver so I can fully jump into this world. So far everything has been going reasonably well... I just wish Intel could catch up with Nvidia/ATI on their graphics abilities (especially from a stability stand point). Either that or Nvidia/ATI needs to release a new IGP with technology closer to this or the HD 5xxx chipsetted cards. I hope your experiences have been close to mine or better and I wish I could easily read what you guys have been saying haha. I'm surprised there's only a German thread discussing this chipset... maybe I should start a new thread haha. :D Edit: Oh and I was extremely upset to learn that Intel did not support 23.976hz playback (the standard framerate for US based films). Hopefully this will be resolved within a few driver updates.
