Hi,
I use MediaPortal to view movies that are stored on a networked-drive, and for some reason I can't play any video file at all with the internal player.
Playing it in Windows Media Player or Media Player Classic works just fine.
Playing it with the "External player" option also works.

I was trying to uninstall ffdshow, didn't help. reinstalled, didn't help either.

Can anyone please look at the log and tell me where should I start looking for a solution ?
Does the logs give any hint about the cause of this problem ?

    Hi omriamos,

If I had seen right you want to watch a BlueRay movie, perhaps you have a codec problem, choose an other codec like PowerDVD 8 oder DIVX7 (they also included a H264 Codec for BlueRay).

I also have some movies on my NAS-Server and it works fine (but no BlueRay), so I think it's the codec.

    Thank you!

The problem, though, is that this file was only an example.. this happens to me with all types of files: mkv, avi (divx/xdiv), mpg....
All the files works with all external players: Windows media player, Media player classic...

I use ffdshow for all file types, is there anything special I should config in MediaPortal for this?

    Hi,

I use for all file types PowerDVD 8 Codecs and no special configuration

    Video & TV:
    - MPEG2: PDVD8
    - H264 video codec: PDVD8
    DVD:
    - DVD Video Decocer: PDVD8

    Hi,

Now with the release of MediaPortal 1.0.1, the software now help me to know a little more about this problem, with its error messages.

As I said before, none of the video files work with the internal player. nothing at all.

I am getting these error messages:
    Unable to play: filename.avi
    Video codec: xvid

    Unable to play: filename.avi
    Video codec: divx

    Unable to play: filename.mpg
    Video codec: mpeg-1v

    Unable to play: filename.mkv
    Video codec: v_mpeg3/iso/avc

All of them works perfectly with MediaPlayerClassic. Codec is ffdshow.
MediaPortal Configuration have "ffdshow video decoder" in the "Video Player -> Codec Settings" page (even though selecting other codec doesn't change a thing).

So why can't I play ANY video file at all ??
Please note the even the simplest Mpeg-1 file does not work..

    Any help?
    Thanks!

    Thank you!
I have installed the latest ATI Catalyst 9.4 Drivers for my HD-3600 Card, and now it seems to be working :)
This is weird, though, as I also had an official catalyst drivers before.. maybe just a re-install was needed..
