I'm making a playlist of UK internet radio stations for you to download. I've included all the information on the radio stations such as genres and locations etc. Included will of course be the Windows Media Player playlist files for each radio station which will self extract as C:\My Documents and settings/User Name/My Music/MP Internet Radio/ then you can enter the setup for Media Portal and input the details for each station and then in MP itself you'll have yourself a nice list of around 140 stations across the UK. This will be ready within 24 hours from now so check back soon ;)

Download It Now:

If you'd like stations added or have any comments/suggestions etc, please e-mail me at JDI.Support@Europe.com or visit my website http://www.TheJDINetwork.co.nr

This isn't exactly a ground breaking plugin or skin I know, but it will give you a wide choice of radio stations to listen to and has all the information ready to be added to MP.

:)

You have to add them in the setup part of MP. I included a ReadMe file with it saying how to add them.

Open the setup/configuration program for Media Portal, either by going to Start -> All Programs -> Media Portal -> Setup

or

C:\Program Files\Team Media Portal\Media Portal\Configuration.exe (i think thats the default path)

The setup program will launch after a few moments, expand the tab called "Radio" and select "Stations" near the bottom theres a button called "Add" click that, it will then ask for some information regarding station information, leave that open and go back to the Media Portal main folder(if you haven't got it open already) look for a file called "radiolistings" that'll have all the information for all the stations that you'll need to enter into the Media Portal setup program including:

Station Name/ID - I.e Invicta FM
Station Type - These are all internet streams
Genre - I.e Pop/News/Rock etc, this will appear in MP
Location - Where the station locally broadcasts, not needed to enter into MP but obviously handy to know
Bitrate - The speed/quality the station streams
URL - This is the internet address of the stream, copy and paste the URL for the station your adding into the URL box in the setup program(See this screenshot: http://www.thejdinetwork.co.nr/radioaddallscr.JPG )

Once they're all added(or just the ones you want) then click Ok on the setup and open MP and you should find a nice list of stations to browse and listen to complete with info such as genre

I could have prolly explained that much easier but meh lol Hope this has helped you :)

Thanks for that, didn't spot the readme file. Should you place the Playlist files under My Music then and play them from there instead of from My Radio? Also, some stations like Radio 1 for example need real player installed to play them, just wondered if you know how this is handled in MP?

Cheers,
Lee

the playlist files included are not used in MP, they are just so you can add them to your Media Player music library to be played outside MP.

All the stations in that pack can be played in Media Player, but they must be added manually using the method I mentioned to be played in MP.

Most BBC stations need Real Player but those ones don't. In the next release i'll include many more stations, this pack has 148.

Hi Geon106 i assumed that when playing internet radio inside MP the display window would show 'now and next' info like when you stream the radio directly from the website - do you (or anyone else) know why this isn't the case?

Also can't get BBC Radio One link to work inside MP (possibly the other BBC ones won't work either but i haven't tried them). Have you tried the BBC ones without Real Player installed?

try opening the playlist files in Windows Media Player to see if WMP can connect to the BBC stations. When I tried it did but i'm trying vista atm and doesn't like streaming media.

I've never been able to get any info from the stationn to display in MP, if anyone knows how let us know :)

Guess no one wants to let us know how to get station info to display in MP...

(BBC stations working in MP now, don't know what the problem was before).
