I looked around and couldn't find anything on this. I was looking at MythTV also and even though it was open source you had to buy a subscription to download tv/program info. Is this the same way?

    oltranzista,

MediaPortal is 100% free. No subscriptions or hidden fees.
Give MP a try, it's a great program, and a great community supporting it.

Hi, and welcome to the forums, oltranzista.

I believe you oltranzista is talking about EPG subscriptions. For most people/countries there are free alternatives, but not sure about the US. I know that there has been some problems getting EPG for U.S. after a popular EPG service stopped (can't remember the name).

Try searching or browsing the EPG part of the forum.

Zap2it used to give free listings but stopped doing so last September because of abuse. Right now I'm using Schedules Direct for my listings, but it's not free. It only costs $20 a year, though. There's also a couple of other alternatives like CT TV Listings that does offer a limited free listings plan. Both of these have plugins for MediaPortal.

In the XmlTv plugin, you need to select "Apply timezone compensation when loading tvguide.xml" and...

If you use a VPN connection to your home network, you should be able to use the MP client to connect to your server natively instead of using MPExtended.

Thank you for pointing out that my analysis may be less than accurate. :p Although the change to TV channel 71 may not also have been applied to the independent radio channels (different MUXes), the logs that I prepared for one of the development team does show a difference between channel 704 ("BBC Radio 4") and channel 731...

Hi, I didn't have SQL problems but just wanted to agree that on my Win7 system, a clean install of 1.36 TV server x86 does not work since it won't start the TV server configuration. Installing 1.33 first and upgrading to1.36 fixed the problem. Eggert
