Is there a way to get MP to follow shortcuts? (1 Viewer)

I have an extensive collection of photos in MP, some of which belong to multiple categories. So for example, I have a slew of photos in the "New Zealand" folder, but I also have a folder called "Waterfalls." What I would like is to create a set of shortcuts to the waterfall photos in "New Zealand" and copy them into the "Waterfalls" folder. Then ideally, MP would be able to create thumbnails for/display those shortcuts pointing to the files.

Shortcuts have been around now for almost 10 years. Is there a way for MP to recognize them and treat them correctly?

There was a plugin a while ago that can follow movie shortcuts, but I don't think pictures yet. Maybe a plugin developer can pick up on it?

I have exactly the same problem and would like to see a practical fix soon - I have around 20gb of pictures and would like to sort them between favourites and I wnat to keep but not necessarily see repeatedly.
