I hope so because I already bought it.

XFX GeForce 9300 Motherboard - NVIDIA GeForce 9300 MCP, Socket 775, MicroATX, Audio, Video, HDMI, VGA, PCI Express, Gigabit LAN, USB 2.0, RAID

Link to product specs. XFX GeForce 9300 Motherboard - NVIDIA GeForce 9300 MCP, Socket 775, MicroATX, Audio, Video, HDMI, VGA, PCI Express, Gigabit LAN, USB 2.0, RAID at TigerDirect.com

I won't be using an external video card. I will have a Core 2 duo processor and 2 GB with room fofor 2 gb more of ram on XP sp3 when I get it all built.

Do you guys think I will be regretting my purchase?

I also bought a 1.5 TB drive for only $69 so I am still kind of geeking out about that a little. ;)

I just noticed I should have posted this over in another category. Please move the thread if a mod thinks it appropriate.

:sorry::oops:

Regarding the 9300 driver, steer clear of anything newer than 191.07, nvidia seem to be having some problems with drivers released after that.

Thanks for the driver information. Without the warning I would have gone to the website and grabbed whatever was the latest while setting it up.

Do you think that onboard video is going to be good enough to do 1080P?

I still haven't figured out how to get the 8 channel sound out of the board with no digital audio out on the board. I am hoping one of the outputs can be reconfigured. I am hoping it isn't HDMI only because my receiver doesn't have HDMI. I run the HDMI video directly to the TV and the audio to the receiver.

Really not sure on that one, but as the ION based htpc's seem to be using the same chips, have seen some good reviews here.

Sorry my setup is boringly low tech with audigy 4 outputting to 7.1 sound, and as the Mrs has a thing about bass, a bit stuck in a time warp ;)

I can't speak to the video issue because I still don't have it hooked up to my tv but I am very disappointed in the audio. The only way to get 5.1 out of the machine seems to be hdmi and my receiver does not have hdmi. So far, I am not very happy.

This stuff all worked seamlessly when I put it on a laptop to test. I spend $500 on a dedicated machine and nothing works.

Well, I'm pretty sure the motherboard is dead. I am going to have to call tomorrow to see if I can return it. Hopefully they will do a return and not just an exchange. This thing is crap.

I got the xfx technical support people to admit that the board was defective so back it goes.

I'm now thinking about getting a Intel DG45ID Motherboard since it has the onboard hdmi and optical output.

Intel DG45ID Motherboard - Intel G45 Express, Socket 775, DDR2 800/667 MHz, 7.1 Audio, PCI Express 2.0 x16, HDMI, DVI, S/PDIF, SATA RAID, eSATA, USB 2.0, Firewire, Gigabit LAN at TigerDirect.com

Hopefully, that would be a better choice. I'm going to try to wait a few days before ordering so I can clear my mind of all the trouble I've had with this build and make sure I'm getting the right thing this time.

    Hi there,

    Can't comment on those boards - I'm an AMD/ATI (running AM2+/AM3) guy.

Well, I bought the intel motherboard. I'm kind of stuck with intel because I have the core 2 duo processor. As usual, I am figuring out what I need after I have already bought everything.

I am really hoping this motherboard works out.
