I thought I had it figured out.

I updated to the latest MP SVN, using the 1.0.0.3 Blue 2 skin with the fancy animated TV-Series xml's, after ripping my episodes to individual iso files ... "(drive):\TV Series\(Series)\S(season)E(episode).iso"

All my episodes are parsed, info and art downloaded and displays all pretty, but when I click on an episode to play I get a box telling me it cant play the file, along with codec info.

The episode iso's play just fine in MY Videos shares view... but not in TV-Series?

    I'm befuddled....

    regards,

    Chuck

    BTW...

I'm using my client machine to test this all out before putting it on my HTPC Client/Server system. My episodes are on a drive on the HTPC.

I got a similar error message when an MKV file when I was playing around with some codecs and had not re-booted. Once I got the codec priorities set with DSFMgr and re-booted everything was fine.

I'll take a look at it, but if it is a system-wide issue, I would have run into it with MyVideos, wouldn't I? I haven't messed with my codecs, other than choose the new MPA/MPV ones with the MP SVN.

First try the re-boot. If that does not fix it then use DSFMgr to see if you have some conflicts or see if the MPA/MPV decoder is not installed. Its merit may be set to disable. You can also try Filmerit to check and see if any codecs are broken or not correctly installed.

    Reboot did not improve anything.
Cleaned out some missing codec files with filmerit. Rebooted, still no go.
Have no clue as to what I'm looking at in DSFMgr, or what to do with it.

I only get the message in TV-Series. MovingPictures works flawlessly with iso's. MyVideo still plays the episode iso's from shares without problem (other than not being able to stop playing - reported).

I've included the logs from the test in TV-Series. I didn't know which ones were needed, so here is the whole watchdog zip.

From the log this seems to be the problem area...

This looks like a codec issue. I understand it is frustrating since MyVideos plays them but when it gets passed to the internal player from TVSeries you get an error. It could be that the plugin will stop on warnings where MyVideos does not.

As for DSFMgr, it displays a list of all installed DirectShowFilters and shows what their "merit" is. What you want to look for is MPEG AudioDecoder and MPEG Video Decoder in the list. Double click on them and make sure their merit is set to Normal. If you have to change them make sure to hit Set New Merit before you go on to something else. Next, make sure MP is using those codecs in the config under Videos -> Video Player.

Let me know what you find and if anything works. These errors get reported in the MediaPortal.log.

I've got 258 filters on my system, no errors reported.

I've set all my 'recommended' merits to normal.

My selected codecs in MP are set to normal merit.

I completely uninstalled MP using the new wizard.

I reinstalled MP and the newest SVN

    I reinstalled MP TV-Series.

No problem with scanning info, everything looks pretty.

I get the same error when trying to play an episode.

    Unable to play: S01E001.iso

    Video Codec: mpeg-2v
    Audio Codec: ac3

I don't know what else to do.

I installed TV-Series on my HTPC and it also does not play the episode iso. But because I do not have the newest MP SVN on that system, I do not get the error message, only a blink, then it's back in the episode list. Again, MyVideos has no issue with the iso. Moving pictures also handles isos without issue. I used the same ripper with same settings for both main movies and episodes (DVDFab/customize).

    Still no joy.

Then I think it is time to try graphedit. You will need to mount the ISO, run graphedit and then drag one of the .VOB files into graphedit. This will build the directshow graph like a flow chart. It will tell you what filters the system is using to play a file.

here is the graph for one of the episode vob's

I don't know what it means... it's not my area :D

I haven't selected the audio codec that is listed in the graph. In MP I am using the MP audio codec.
