I'm working to a refresh of the italian translation (I'm almost done).
The translation provided in MP is pretty good, but has some major errors in My Wheater (for example, sunset and sunrise), and a lot of strings are missing.
What I've already done:
- Add missing strings (compared, of course, with english XML file),
- Reorder of the strings according to their IDs,
- Grammar checks.
Prior to upload the file to developers, I'd like to check (and have some feedbacks) with italian users for some translations:
- "TIMESHIFT": I'd prefer to leave it as is; maybe "pausa digitale" is a good translation, but some strings use the word "timeshifting" (uhm, not sure, should check), which is impossible to translate in a "compact" way like english. "Pausa digitale in corso" could be a good try, should check with string lengths...
- "SKIP STEP": I'd prefer to leave it as is; the actual "Passi di salto" is useless. I've tried, with no result, to translate in italian in something meaningful...
- Prefixes: I added the prefixes, like in english version. So, we'll have a "Mia TV", "Mia Radio", "Miei Filmati", and so on. Use of Prefixes can be enabled or disabled in MP Configuration.
- "STREAMS": I used the word "Flussi". I was thinking about leaving "streams", because it's currently used in IT and computers, but "flussi" it's easier to understand for "non-computer-oriented" people.
- "PLAY": Play, or "riproduci"/"Riproduzione" and so on? Play is heavily used in italian too, but I'd like to have a "full italian" version. I'm using "riproduci"/"Riproduzione", at the moment.
- My Sudoku: In sudoku, the word "Candidate" is used to identify the numbers that could fit in a cell. I translated in "Numeri possibili" (it doesn't sound good for me). There is plenty of space, so we could also use more characters/words.
Final Note: I use MP+TVServer (in single seat), with TVServer Client plugin. I use very few plugins included in MP distribution; however, I've enabled them and used a little, just to check translations; maybe something is missing, or wrong.
