Jerky HDTV playback with NV Purevideo and MP (1 Viewer)

Synopsis: playing a 1080i hdtv .ts on windows media player with pureview codec is very smooth, cpu utilization is around 10 to 20%, playing the same video in MP also with pureview is very jerky.

If i use DScaler in MP it's very smooth also but i'd like try purevideo.

Is there any optimization i can do or is it a bottleneck on my system, maybe the 9800 pro?

I've found on my system that the slowdown on the NV codec was related to the deinterlace mode that is used. Perhaps WMP is using different deinterlace settings to MP.

I've found that HD and "best" (pixel adaptive) on my video card (x700) really struggles with HD. It especially has issues if the source is progressive (seems to really confuse the codec trying to deinterlace a non-interlaced source).

Are you sure that WMP is using purevideo as the video decoder - and not another decoder with a higher merit? I guess you know how to check this with GraphEdit?

I have found that the InterVideo and CyberLink decoders both give much better results on HD material than the Nvidia decoder.

Also, make sure you leave the de-interlacing options for Nvidia in Configuration at their default (none and automatic, I think).

It is related to the deinterlace mode on my system also, i had set it to Adaptive and changed it back to default and it's a lot better although i 'm still experiencing some slowdowns, on WMP i can set any mode without seeing them, i guess MP needs more powerful hardware because of the WMR mode.

I changed my graphics card to a Nvidia 7600GS and the stutters are gone but I still see a lot of interlacing lines on 1080i movies, although there are movies that are much more affected than others.

Playing the same movies on other players including Windows MCE don’t have this problem. Is this still related to VMR9, anyone playing 1080i ts files in MP without seeing this? What hardware or codecs do I need?

I love MP but I tried a lot of different codecs and I think the hardware should be powerful enough, and I still can’t get rid of the interlacing lines.

i do play 1080i ts movies within MP. Up untill yesterday i had many problems. video and sound out of synch, colors not good and jerky quality.

Yesterday i format my pc and installed only Nvidia PureVideo Codecs the latest available and ffdshow.

after that everything works just fine.

i only made the following changes for PureVideo Decoder.
De-Intrelace Control set to Automatic and De-interlace Mode set to best available. Also put the nView support to VMR9 and make sure that the Hardware accelaration is checked.
