MediaPortal Version: 1.1.2

Windows Version: Windows 7 32bit
CPU Type: E2200@2.2GHZ OCED@3.1GHZ
HDD: Western Digital 320GB

Motherboard: GA-EP35-DS3L
Video Card: HD4350
Video Card Driver: 10.12
Sound Card: Onboard

MPEG2 Video Codec: ffdshow
MPEG2 Audio Codec: ffdshow
h.264 Video Codec: CoreAVC
Cooling: Cooler Master Hyper 212
Power Supply: 400w
TV: Samsung Model# UN46B6000VFXZA

This problem has been vexing me for quite some time.

About every 10-20 seconds, sometimes more often, there is a jitter in video playback. Hitting SHIFT + 1 shows no frames are being dropped. The jitter doesn't happen nearly as often when playing 720p or lower quality video. Only in 1080p videos is it /really/ noticeable. Which bugs the hell out of me. Switching to the Microsoft h.264 codec or ffdshow makes it much worse. In fact, using either of those I get a fair amount of frame drops (say 30 dropped frames in 3000 or so).

Is the 4350 not a sufficient card? If it would fix the issue I would have no problem purchasing a HD4670 or equivalent.

Also, I'm using SAF 4.0 and Reclock. I had the CCC pack installed previously, but uninstalled and switched to SAF in hopes of fixing things. If you need to know my settings in Reclock I'd be happy to give them, although I believe it's on the defaults.

I've attached the MediaPortal debug log. (hopefully I did this right)

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

You are using SAF but your systemspecs says CoreAVC? I run 1080p movies in perfect 24p sync on a very undervolted Radeon 3200 onboard, so your 4350 should be more than cabable.

Try the Cyberlink PowerDVD codec (versions 9 or 10).

Yeah if you can't tell I have no idea what the hell I'm doing. Good to hear about the 4350. I'll give the Cyberlink PowerDVD codec a shot.

No dice. Using the PDVD10 codec provided similar results to CoreAVC. The jitter was still prevalent. Also PDVD10 at most times used 30-40% of the CPU but on occasion spiked to 80%.
    Thank you for the reply.

EDIT: I should note the content I tried this on was 24/25fps with TV refresh rate at 60Hz. Best I can tell that's the only refresh rate choice I have.

If DXVA (hardware accelerated video decoding) is active, you should see no more than maybe 5-8% CPU on 720p material, and only slightly more on 1080p.

You should try and get DXVA running outside MediaPortal. Check if this is possible by playing some files with another mediaplayer, like Media Player Classic Home Cinema. Have you enabled AERO? If not, you must do so on Windows 7. AERO is enabled when your windows are semi-transparent in the titlebar...

Aero is enabled. Playing the same file in MPC-HC gave me the same results. 30-40% generally then 80-90% spikes.
Concerning hardware acceleration I noticed it is turned on for the PDVD10 codec in the mediaportal config.
