When in MP, press the F11 key to take a screenshot. This places the .png file in the My Documents/My Pictures/MediaPortal Screenshots diretory.

I know this thread is old, but maybe somebody could explain how to change the file format to jpeg and the destination folder?

Not sure about changing the destination folder when generating a screenshot with this method, but if you open the .png with Windows Accessories/Paint you can "Save As" a jpeg and at the same time choose to a different folder or Desktop etc.

This is a workaround, not a solution. Not very convenient, especially if you do a lot of screenshots. Maybe the developers could clarify if this behavior is hard-coded, especially .png as a default format?
