Hello Everyone, :D

This is my first post here so please excuse me if I’m asking a question that’s already been answered! I’ve searched around on the forums here but have been unable to find what I’ve been looking for.

I just recently purchased a KWorld PVR-TV 7130/3/4 TV Card (which works perfectly with the bundled software) I can’t appear to get it operational with MediaPortal? I’ve installed it, reinstalled it (the TV Card), updated the drivers.. etc but MediaPortal doesn’t seem to detect it! Grrr.. I’ve also been searching for generic drivers for this KWorld card but as of yet I’ve had no luck even finding the type of chipset this thing has!

I’m running the latest version of MediaPortal with a clean install of Windows XP Pro SP2 with the following hardware:

Intel Pentium D 805
512x2 1GB Dual Channel DDR2 667
Intel 945P Chipset
ATI Radeon x550 256MB (latest drivers)
Onboard Intel High Definition Audio
160GB SATA 3.0
BenQ DVD RW

Any and all help would be most appreciated!

I can't see the KWorld PVR-TV 7130/3/4 TV Card on the list of Supported TV cards, so I guess that its not currently supported.

It looks like it is an analog software encoding card - is that correct? There is a chance that you can get it supported if you follow the instructions at the link I provided above.

Thank you for your response! :)

Being more awake than I was last night I had another look at the list of supported cards and have been searching, trying to figure out exactly what chipset is on this TV Card.

I could be mistaken here… but I believe it may have the Philips 7133 chipset, the kworld website tells me little or nothing about the card or what chipset it has or if it’s a hardware or software card. Apparently the Philips 7133 is supported and appears in Hybrid Cards as AverMedia M115. I’ve ran various searches on google trying to find a review or a more detailed specification for this thing and the name Philips 7133 or 7130/3/4 appears here and there, which I know could be similar product naming or maybe a product with the same chipset using the same numbering?

What I do know about this card is that it’s obliviously analogue, it’s running from my cable TV perfectly with excellent picture quality and it supports, TV Antenna, TV Cable or Satellite, FM radio has been left out of this product. Click here to view the product information for this card.

The minimum spec for the card is:

    PIII 800
    128MB RAM
    DX 9 Video
    AC97 Audio

After yet more searching to get a definite idea of exactly what chipset is in this card, I thought I’d have another look at the box, which lists the card as a PVR-TV 7133 and in another section it’s listed as a TV 878!

Now after some searching with variations of the words KWorld and TV878 & 7133 I’ve encountered more than just one website telling me it’s using the conexant 878 chipset and that about a million other companies also use the same chipset!

This gets more confusing as I go along, I should probably remove the card and have a look at the chipset on the thing to be 100% sure. I think I’ll do that soon!

Having had a look here in Analogue Software Encoding TVCards I find two very fimilar names! Philips 713x/7131/7133/7134 and of course Conexant 878! Maybe at last I’ve identified my chipset? I’ll remove the card and check the chipset to be 100% sure I’m correct.

Now if I am right about the chipset, anyideas how to get it up and running in Media Portal?

I’ve found exactly what chipset I have on this TV Card:

I uninstalled the drivers for the device and rebooted, on rebooting windows asked if it should install drivers for my new hardware so I thought, it can’t hurt and allowed it to search the internet for an updated driver. Windows attempted to install the TV Card as a Philips SAA7133… so I downloaded and installed Sandra and…

Sandra reports it as: Philips Semiconductors SAA7135HL Multimedia Capture Device

So the chipset is a Philips SAA7135HL or a SAA7133, either way I’ve seen this chip listed in; Analogue Hardware, Analogue Software, DVB-T & Hybrid. I assume this particular chip is used in a number of configurations by the various manufacturers that purchase them from Philips. My point is it appears this chip is supported. As of yet I’ve had no luck finding any generic drivers for this device from Philips.

I’ve reinstalled the drivers for the TV Card and the PVR software that came with it and have confirmed that it works properly. I also installed WinDVR 3 & MPEG Encoder.

I attempted to get the card supported by following the link you provided.. I downloaded and setup GraphEdit. I’m unsure as to exactly where my card fits in…

In GraphEdit under “BDA Receiver Component†I find only one item listed which is “BDA Skip Deframer†although under “Video Capture Sources†I’ve found “Philips Cap7133 Captureâ€

I also found this in the media portal log:

    7/13/2006 11:17:57 AM device:philips Cap7133 Capture id:mad:device:pnp:\\?\pci#ven_1131&dev_7133&subsys_00001131&rev_10#4&bc67b8d&0&00f0#{65e8773d-8f56-11d0-a3b9-00a0c9223196}\global
    7/13/2006 11:18:55 AM device:philips Cap7133 Capture id:mad:device:pnp:\\?\pci#ven_1131&dev_7133&subsys_00001131&rev_10#4&bc67b8d&0&00f0#{65e8773d-8f56-11d0-a3b9-00a0c9223196}\global

I don’t really know where to go from here, any ideas or suggestions would be most welcome! :D
