Dear IR Server Suit team.

First I would like to thank you for the great program. I really appreciate your engagement and professional attitude!

In the last days I tested IR Server Suite - Test Build 1.4.2.3344 with Windows 7 32bit and I was able to receive IR commands via the Debug Client and Translator. The only problem I have is with “Learn IR”. I tried 4 different remote controls but always the program responses with a timeout message:

I have a very similar setup to this and am having the same problem, I can see the red light on the receiver flashing when I try to learn the remote command, but the IR plugin does not register it.

I have been doing some digging into this issue, it seems that the problem is related to the OS, I have tried the same remote/Balster combination on an XP based machine and that works ok.

I am now going to see if I can map all the functions for the remote blasting on the XP machine and then import them into the Win 7 TV Server machine.

Success!

I have now mapped the remote functions on the Win XP Machine and then copied the .IR files across to the Windows 7 machine and I am now able to change channels on the STB at will ...

It may be worth trying the same thing absalom and see if that solves the problem for you (assuming that you have an old XP machine lying around.)

:D for your tests. I'm sure it is an important information for the IRSS development team to see that there is a different behaviour with different Windows versions.
I will check if I find someone with a XP machine...
Best Regards

    Hi Tobi

It does work, there are many of us that use the IR-Server... Which version of IR-Server are you using?

I am having the same problem. Geov, I would appreciate any help you can provide to diagnose my problem. I am running Windows 7 Professional x64. I am using IRSS 1.4.2.4189. I do not use Media Portal... just Windows Media Center.

    Thanks,
    Brian

I have to post back that it's working fine now. I discovered that I had to run the IR Server configuration tool, then click the stop button next to "application", then click the "install service" button, then click the start button next to "service". It's not intuitive... I just tried clicking buttons and changing stuff until it worked. In fact, the tool tips on those start/stop buttons are incorrect, so it is VERY confusing.

I wasn't able to learn codes on windows7 professional 32bit as well but after some searching and trial and error i found out that it was my lcd creating interference with mce receiver. In my case red light on mce receiver was flashing or constantly lit without me using any remotes, so i moved mce receiver as far as i could and covered it with carton (or until you will see there is no red light) and i was able to learn remote codes this way.
I am using irss 1.4.2.3664 as newer versions don't have irblast.exe working.
