After an incredibly frustrating week involving lost/missing program guide info, recordings full of nothing but static, crashes, and the lost time trying to figure things out, I regretfully must say that MP is taking a back seat for awhile.

I upgraded my copy of BeyondTV to v4.2 and am about to purchase Beyond Media.

As much as I love MediaPortal, I'm tired of the small annoyances and dealing with crashes at the worst possible times. I've taken the time to read through the forums and try the tricks that other people have suggested to try fix my issues, however I can't justify putting up with it any further.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not slagging MP or anything of the sort, I'm just at the point where I need a piece of software which runs without problems. I truly hope that in the future once MP has had a chance to grow and become more stable, that I will come back to it as I truly believe it has the potential to outshine every other HTPC software out there, including BeyondTV.

I plan on keeping up with the forums and perhaps trying out future builds of MP when they're released. Until it becomes more stable however, I have no other choice but to use something else. :(

MP Devs, keep up the amazing work, it truly is appreciated!!

Thanks for all your posts Khris :D

They have always made interesting reading.

And do not stray too far away, change can be just around the corner (reliability wise).

    Best Wishes and good luck

As I said, I have no intentions to not come back. I will definately keep a close eye on MP as I feel it has immense potential! :)

I'v tried mediaportal and mce now for 2 weeks and I must say that mp is pretty stable. Maby its your hardware that isnt stable, have you considering a hw change? I run mp on a opty 148,big typhoon, 2gb ram, dfi ultra-d, 2gb ram ,x850xt with a schooner ,250gb sata,160gb sata. The system runs all day and have done for a week now with out a glitch. I think I have restarted mp 2 or 3 times no more than I had to do when I had my digital reciever.

    try this

instead of purchasing beyond media, grab a pirated version off of a torrent site, and donate the money you would have spent , to the MP project.

I've been using MP for about a year now and I know there is nothing wrong with my hardware. There have been times where MP will run flawlessly for weeks at a time, but then I'll start to have issues when I haven't changed anything. I've become tired of this and have chosen not to lose anymore sleep/time on fixing it.

Also, as I've said many times, I'm not bashing MP, it just doesn't fit my current needs.

Second, BTV uses a centralized server authentication for it's software keys which means a pirated version will not work.

Third, although MP is an amazing product, it does not suit my current needs.

Now before you go making stupid suggestions like this again, try thinking beforehand.

Then I wonder what can be the difference My setup work perfectly and yours doesnt. The program is the same on both boxes but the the difference are the hardware.
