Limited range with Hauppauge remote (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I have just bought a Nova-T-500 and have set it up with media portal.

The problem is a limited range with the supplied Hauppauge remote.

I can only use the remote about 1 meter from the IR receiver.

I have ruled out the remote itself by programming a learning remote with some commands.
This gives the same result with the new remote.

The batteries are brand new duracell.

I have no problems with range with my other remotes and A/V equipment.

No help from Hauppauge support

Any ideas

Best regards

Dan.

Do you have florescent lighting or a high level of natural lighting shining on the IR receiver? This can significantly reduce the sensitivity of the IR receiver as they have a built-in AGC (Automatic Gain Control), and those 2 types of lighting produce a significant amount of IR.

It could also be that the IR receiver is faulty?

    Hi Taipan,

    Thanks for replying,

Theres no florescent lighting in the room or heavy day light.

As I said in my first post all my other remotes and A/V equipment works fine
    at long range.

Has anyone had a faulty IR lead before? can`t see alot that can go wrong with it.

It works perfect at any range less than a meter.

    Dan.
