Is there a list of recommended a/v decoders for TV & hauppag PVR 250 capture card?

I'm new to mp and get poor or no video while trying to view live video.

various other issues I'm trying to narrow down before making a posting

*Usually* a broad variety is fairly well covered by:

Nvidia Purevideo decoder
Xvid (or Divx)
Quicktime alternative
RealAlternative
AVI <-> AC3/DTS Filter

May have missed something but thats all that comes straight to mind.

And not sure but i guess you mean TV, bad picture quality.
