Lof1, LofSW, Lof2 in TVServer ? (1 Viewer)

Hi, in MediaPortal 0.2.2.0 there was a way to set the LOF1, LOFSwitch and LOF2 settings in the tuning parameters. Is there a way to set these in TVServer?

I am unable to find any channels on the satellite while scanning and thought it might be because of these settings (which are different from default). Scanning with MP .2.2.0 works correctly when I set these parameters.

Thanks for your help.

    I know you! :) The only setting we have is the circular setting which uses 11250. I am pretty sure this is the setting you are looking for. It should also set your switch to 0 instead of 22khz.

    I am going to assume you are scanning dish.

    Let me know if you need any more help or if I did not answer your question.

    Are you refering to the same question I had in this thread:
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/lnb_frequency-t13170.html

    The offset frequency of the LNB? Right? I'd like this feature but I guess there is more important work for tv server at the moment. I mean I don't want to bug Frodo about it. I guess He will get to at some stage. Since there is a work around as I mentioned in the above theard.

    Hi ASiDiE, it looks like you are hanging here also!

    What you say is on the good track I think. Scanning with circular setting to 11250 works in MyTheatre and I can get every channels at corresponding transponders correctly. I also was able to scan and watch TV with ProgDVB, DVBDream, DVBViewer, GP-PVR and DC-DVB with these settings. I am still unable to scan with TVServer using Linear, Universal or Circular (log file says unable to lock LNB).

    I tried to modify the LOF2 value from the tuning spaces in the registry (this worked for DC-DVB) but did not work for MediaPortal. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Tuning Spaces]

    Does anyone know if TVServer reads the Tuning Spaces settings from the registry or uses hardcoded values?

    Rhys.Goodwin, I read your refering topic but I am not sure I understand what you mean by offsetting the frequencies for your LNB, is that what LOF1, SW and LOF2 are intended for?

    ASiDiE, my bird is BEV ;)

    Hi, I'm not too sure if we're barking up the same tree at all! since I don't know what cirular is. I use universal (ku band)

    This is how I understand it and how I got my TV Server to work:

    A transponder carries more than one channel. High frequencies travel easily through air. But they travel very poorly in cables.

    That's where the LNB comes in. It takes the high-frequency signal and shifts it down to a more suitable range to carry on a cable. How much it's shifted is referred to as the Local Oscillator Frequency (LOF), even though it's an offset in this context.

    If the LOF is 10600 and we want to tune to, for example, a transponder on 12483MHz, then the actual frequency we'll get out of the LNB is 12483MHz-10600mhz=1883MHz. This is what we'll need to tune to on our card.

    But what if the LOF on your LNB is 11300Mhz (From what I can tell LOF 10600Mhz is hard-coded into TvServer.) then you need to do the math to "trick" tvserver:

    We know that the frequency that we need to tune to is 1183Mhz that's what's coming out of our LNB (12483-11300=1183)

    So we need to arrive at 1183 but using a different LOF (10600) so:
    1183+10600=11783

    Now we tell TVserver to look for channels on transponder 11783Mhz (Instead of 12483Mhz); TvServer subtracts it's built-in LOF (10600Mhz) and arrives at the correct frequency(1183Mhz)

    Hope this makes sense; even if it doesn't apply to your situation hopefully someone will find it helpful :D:D

    That is brilliant! I will try your suggestion as it makes sense to me.

    I understand what you mean, the LNB acts like any radio frequency circuit, lowering down the RF enough for it to pass though wires without gaining a huge amount of noise. That is fine, but what are the roles of SW and LOF2 (Local Oscillator Frequency 2)?

    Thanks

    I think Some LNBs have 2 LOFs an upper and lower LOF. the swtich is which LOF to choose:

    LOF1 = 9750Mhz
    Switch=12671Mhz
    LOF2=10600Mhz

    So anything 12671Mhz and above would use LOF2 frequency.

    Again this is my understanding and I may totaly incorrect! When I configured my Medialportal with tvengine 0.2; since I only had one LOF frequency, I set LOF1 and LOFSW to "0" and set LOF2 to 11300.

    You probably already know but you'll have to modify the transponders in .ini for you sat.

    .ini files are stored in:
    C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\Tuningparameters

    Or could create a new .ini file and then reference it in the satellites.xlm file.
    :)

    Yes, I already did a few tweaks to transponders .ini files.

    Thanks for the info ;)

    Rhys... your info on lof stuff has been very informative... I never have wrapped my head around that area of sat tv. I just try to learn as little as possible to get a picture, but I suppose stuff sort of soaks in over the years.

    So the lof1 and lof2 settings are always the same, 11250mhz, for every software, for na satellites?

    My question is... in mytheatre, I was told that setting the switch frequency differently for each satellite would tell my 4x4 22khz switch which input group was the desired one for the given satellite. But in tvserver, there's only 1 switch variable for all 4 satellites. So how do I operate my 22khz switch? I have a 2x1 diseqc I can try to use, but I never did have any luck getting it going when I tried last year. (this is bev, and a skystar2).
