Hi,
I need to log kids activity (what they watch) on mediaportal but I have one problem and one question.

Problem is that I install MediaPortal on two computer and I cannot find log folder under C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal where the mediaportal is installed. After that, I see in forum posts that log files, even if I found them does not record activities history like which movie they watch in which time and if it record that activity it is overwriten each time when mediaPortal is started.

Is there some way or plugin to record mediaportal activities in some kind of log file?

Thanks!

Hi, and welcome to the forum :)

IIRC, the log files does say what has been played.

You can find them via the "User files" foler, which you find by [START->] --> Program files -> Team Media Portal --> MediaPortal --> User Files.

    HTH :)

    Hi,
thanks for welcome and the tip .....

I found where log files are stored from your tip, they are under C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\log

I have still one issue, the MediaPortal.log is overwritten every time when MP is started, can I avoid this somehow?

    Thanks again.

That's true - the current MP log files are more dedicated to analysis and debugging.
I would also appreciate if another logfile could be created, that will not be deleted and holds just history of media played - e.g. in the form:
Mediatype, Date, Time, Duration, Category, Title, Source
    Video, 2009-03-17, 11:32, 5:02, Video, "holiday in Spain", \\SERVER\Movies\Camcorder\Holidays-23456.avi
    TV, 2009-03-17, 11:37, 1:03, N-TV, "Market-Watch", \\SERVER\Timeshifting\abc-1.ts

Would be not too difficult to implement I assume...

I hope, that with MP2 all Media will be played via Streaming Engine - this would give us central Logs in the database including userconcepts - but this is anyway far far away...
